Castelli and Chiltern 100 Cycling Festival launch limited edition jersey
Launched today, Castelli have teamed up with the Chiltern 100 Cycling Festival to bring riders the limited edition 2018 event jersey. This exciting collaboration brings together the most prestigious jersey designers in the world and one of the UK’s favourite sportive events and vintage cycling festivals, which takes place from Penn House, Amersham, on 15 July 2018.
Combining vintage stripes and bold block colours, the jersey takes inspiration from cycling’s past, with the comfort and latest technology from global leaders in cycling apparel. The side panels include graphic detail that is a nod to the Pavé Stage of Le Tour de France, which takes place on the same day as this iconic sportive event. After the beautiful and brutal ride, cyclists can relax on the lawns of Penn House and watch Stage 9 of Le Tour, LIVE on the big screen.
The jersey design had input from Oliver Knight, author of The Cycling Jersey: Craftsmanship, Speed & Style, who has heralded the end result as “the perfect blend of vintage and modern cycling.” Oliver will be at the Chiltern 100 Cycling Festival along with his collection of iconic vintage cycling jerseys dating back to the 1940’s.
Finally brought to life by Darren Gumm, Castelli Servizio Corse Designer – UK, he commented; “This jersey is designed with our sportive riders in mind. It’s stylish and comfortable, with a subtle connection to the event and to the history of cycling. It’s strong addition to your summer cycling collection.”
The Chiltern 100 Cycling Festival takes place at Penn House country estate, near Amersham, just one hour from London. The sportive takes in the stunning Chiltern Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and boasts some challenging hills such as the infamous climbs of ‘Whiteleaf’ and ‘Wardrobes’, as well as route options from 52km up to 161km. Catering to local club riders, keen amateurs and total beginners, this unique event makes some of the best UK cycling accessible to every level of experience.
But the sportive is only half of the fun! The Chiltern 100 Cycling Festival offers a full day vintage cycling festival and activity programme in the Velo Village, set in the picturesque grounds of the stately Penn House. With over 30 vintage stalls, as well as the Amersham Classic retro ride, and prizes for the ‘Most Dapper Rider’ in the Concors D’Elegance, this is a key date for the diary of anyone with a penchant for vintage cycling.
After a tough ride, cyclists can relax on the expansive lawns, and enjoy local food, craft beers and LIVE coverage of Stage 9 of Le Tour de France on the giant outdoor screen.
